CTPL maintains an active program in Central America and the Caribbean that includes both country and regional programs. In Central America, CTPL is currently assisting six Central American countries—Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Panama—to develop capacities in the areas of multilateral and regional trade negotiations, customs administration and trade facilitation, agricultural trade, sanitary and phytosanitary measures and environmental standards.

Since 1997, CTPL has delivered technical training programs to CARICOM officials and officials from member states on a variety of trade and economic integration issues including trade policy options to address diminishing trade preferences in the European Union and the United States, and technical matters such as negotiation strategies and techniques; implementation of the WTO TRIPs agreement, market access and rules of origin, among others.
