CARICOM: Intellectual Property Rights and Trade Issues
CTPL conducted a three-day training workshop in St. Lucia on intellectual property rights (IPR) and trade issues for officials of the 15-member Caribbean Community (CARICOM). The workshop reviewed the obligations of the TRIPS Agreement and the domestic legislative and administrative implications in terms of implementation requirements. In addition, CTPL provided policy advice to the region on approaches to secure CARICOM's interests in the protection of traditional medicine, folklore and culture. The training was organized by the Caribbean Regional Negotiating Machinery with funding from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).
