China: The Textile Sector Reform and WTO Implementation 2001–2003
This was a sub-projects under the Public Sector Reform Program (PSRP) financed by CIDA and executed by Agriteam Canada Consulting Ltd. in Calgary. The Chinese Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation (CAITEC) and the Department of Foreign Trade Administration (DFTA) under the Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM, previously the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation – MOFTEC) worked with CTPL to implement this sub-project over a two-year period. The overall goal of the sub-project was to assist China in reforming its textiles sector policies to make the sector fully consistent with WTO rules and regulations. The objective of the sub-project was to strengthen the capacity of Chinese institutions to formulate and implement WTO-consistent industrial and trade policies in the textiles sector.
