This project was a partnership between the Centre for Trade Policy and Law (CTPL) and the Cuban Ministry of Trade (MINCEX) and funded by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), in cooperation with the Cuban Ministry of International Cooperation and Investment (MINVEC) .The aim of the project was to build individual and institutional capacity to assit Cuba in effectively dealing with the challenges that would result from the resumption of normal Cuba-US trade relations. As a result, throughout the three-year duration of the project technical assistance (training of government officials and enterprise representatives) and longer-term capacity development (the institutionalization of professional trade policy training programs at the Cuban Foreign Trade Institute) were combined to faciliate Cuban participation in the international trading system.
