Ecuador: Trade Policy Training Program for Ecuador's Ministry of Foreign Trade, Industry and Fishing (Government of Ecuador/World Bank)
In addressing the trade policy concerns of Ecuador, CTPL conducted a training needs analysis for the government of Ecuador which included various ministries, and consultations with various private sector groups, universities and training institutes. The training program consisted of the following three elements: (i) detailed training and policy analysis for government officials on the WTO rules and their implications for Ecuador's trade strategies; (ii) specialized training modules on WTO and regional trade issues for the chambers of industry and commerce; and (iii) longer-term transfer of knowledge to local academic and training institutions to build their capacity to teach trade policy courses at a university level.
